John Hinde & His Colour Picture Postcards of South Dublin

Many of us will remember clutches of foreign tourists on a rainy day, exiting shops in tourist towns clutching just purchased John Hinde postcards. James Scannell will look at the impact these lusciously hued cards had on Ireland as a tourist destination, Hinde’s company based in Cabinteely, Co. Dublin as an employer, its worldwide market and particularly the saturated colour postcards depicting South Dublin which gave the place an unreal, almost Riviera, touch.
