From Blackrock to Thatcher, via Baghdad

Rory Carroll is the Ireland Correspondent for The Guardian. He has reported from the Balkans, Afganistan, Iraq (where he was kidnapped), Latin America and the United States.
After twenty years as a foreign correspondent Rory came full circle and ended up back in Blackrock and Dun Laoghaire where he grew up. He will reflect on his career and talk  about what it was like to return to Ireland and came to write a book about the IRA plot to assassinate Margaret Thatcher.
The book’s title is Killing Thatcher: The IRA, the Manhunt and the Long War on the Crown (published in the US as There Will Be Fire: Margaret Thatcher, the IRA, and Two Minutes That Changed History). His previous book on Hugo Chávez called Comandante was published by Cannongate and Penguin.
