Friday 13th March – The Development and History of Irish Traditional Music by Des Geraghty
The vibrancy of modern Ireland is echoed by the appeal of Irish traditional music through time and its particular resonance with the latest generation of Irish youth. Our national music has influenced many other genres both in Ireland and abroad from orchestral to rock music and permeated many different cultures.
Our speaker Des Geraghty has long association with Irish traditional music and is an accomplished musician in his own right. He is the author of “Luke Kelly: a Memoir” among other books, and is a retired trade unionist and politician.
