A look at the legacy of Georgian and Victorian gate lodges left behind after the “big” house was developed or knocked down together with its gate lodge, or else leaving the gate lodge still standing marooned in a welter of more modern housing. It was estimated that over 1,100 gate lodges were built in Dublin and County, but only 330 are still standing today.
